“The Red Ape Debate – The future for the orangutan”
a follow up event to April’s highly successful Great Ape Debate

World Land Trust invites all interested parties to attend this event which is being held at The Royal Geographical Society, London
27th November 2009.
Experts from around the world will come together to discuss some of the key issues involved in both the conservation of wild orang-utans and the rehabilitation and release of captive orang-utans.

Orang-utan numbers have plummeted over recent years, mainly as a result of the spread of plantation monocultures. The destruction of huge areas of Orangutan habitat is now driving the species to extinction.
Urgent decisions need to be made: how best to ensure the survival of this, the “person of the forest”? Experts are divided in their opinions and this discussion will integrate some of their views and open the debate to the floor.
