The construction of the Nay Pyi Taw Safari Park in Myanmar started in November 2010. Orginally scheduled to open to the public on the 1st February it finally opened its doors yesterday on the 12th February 2011.
Located along the Yangon-Mandalay highway and close to the new capital city the 300 acre collection is themed into African, Australian and Asian areas. Visitors will view these by tram and expect to see in the region of 100 different species. Some animals have been especially imported for this new venture whilst others have been moved from the Yadanabon Zoological Garden and the Yangon Zoological Garden.
